The Trinity team is a part of the Room at the Inn ministry to the homeless which is sponsored by the Sisters of Divine Providence. Their administrative headquarters and day site for the homeless clients is in Bridgeton. The day site is limited to 20 clients at any one time. The clients are usually women and their children but occasionally there is a father with the family. Often there are single women, but never a single man. Ideally there are 60 or more churches or service organizations which volunteer, two for each night of the month, and each cares for half of the current clients in the day shelter. The Trinity team has volunteered to be a night site on the second Friday evening and following Saturday morning of each month. Each time we pick up the clients (a maximum of 10) from the shelter at about 5:30 p.m., bring them to church, eat dinner with them, provide child care, play games, engage in conversation, provide sleeping accommodations for the night, and eat breakfast with them in the morning before returning them to the day site by 8 a.m.
Team members supply the food for dinner and breakfast, help in preparing and cleaning up before and after meals and the event. If anyone is interested in joining the team, we would be glad to have you. It is indeed a rewarding ministry and often even fun!
